Freighter link launched between Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru, and Doha

8th July 2026

MASkargo and Qatar Airways Cargo have introduced a new twice-weekly freighter service connecting Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru, and Doha, enhancing Asia-to-global cargo connectivity amid evolving geopolitical and operational challenges.

MASkargo and Qatar Airways Cargo have added a new dedicated freighter link between Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru and Doha as the two carriers deepen a partnership that is already reshaping their Asia-to-global cargo network. The twice-weekly service is being flown by Qatar Airways Cargo Boeing 777 freighters and is designed to add 200 tonnes of weekly capacity for general cargo, perishables, pharmaceuticals and high-value shipments, according to the companies.

The launch builds on a strategic tie-up first announced in October 2024, when the airlines said they had started working together to improve connectivity and operating efficiency. Qatar Airways later said that the partnership had already moved about 2,400 tonnes of cargo, including substantial volumes of perishables and pharmaceuticals, while the broader plan with IAG Cargo and MASkargo was to create a global cargo joint business subject to regulatory approval.

Malaysia Airlines, MASkargo’s parent, said the latest route strengthens network resilience and supports trade flows linked to Asia. The company added that Kuala Lumpur and Bengaluru are being used as dedicated gateways, allowing customers to access markets across Asia, Europe and North America through the combined reach of the two carriers. MASkargo chief executive Mark Jason Thomas said the collaboration underlined the airline’s ambition to reinforce Kuala Lumpur’s role as a strategic cargo hub and to improve flexibility for customers handling more time-sensitive and high-value freight.

The new service also comes as MASkargo has been adjusting other parts of its Doha-linked operations. In a separate notice, the airline said it had temporarily suspended scheduled cargo services via Doha to the European Union because of developments in parts of the Middle East, with charter options to be used where possible until further notice. That makes the new Kuala Lumpur-Bengaluru-Doha freighter lane an important addition to capacity at a time when carriers are seeking more resilient routing options.
