DP World launches war risk cargo cover

13th May 2026

DP World has launched cargo war risk insurance for businesses operating in the Middle East.

The policy, which the company says is the first of its kind, offers continuous coverage across the supply chain, including ocean and air transit, port storage and inland delivery. The product is designed to plug gaps in existing insurance policies, which often only cover a single leg of a shipment’s journey and may exclude war-related risks altogether.

According to DP World, the no-deductible policy covers physical loss or damage caused by conflict, civil unrest, seizure and derelict weapons. Coverage options include end-to-end protection, standalone ocean, air, or land transit policies and automatic port storage coverage for up to 14 days.
