FIDI 39 Club: Why our Osaka Conference will be one to remember

30th April 2026

Juan Guillermo Díaz, President of FIDI 39 Club explains how an essential business programme focusing on cyber security, AI and leadership will mean delegates at this year’s FIDI 39 Club Conference in Osaka return home with practical knowledge as well as memories.

I believe the FIDI Conference in Osaka has been one of the most anticipated FIDI events for at least seven years – and Japan is the reason why.

Something about Japan feels almost magical: a country that manages to be profoundly avant-garde while remaining deeply rooted in its traditions. Everything feels intentional, from its architecture and discipline to the respect for process and attention to detail. It is a country many of us have dreamed of visiting.

Osaka has a unique energy. It is a vibrant, open and welcoming city that still offers moments of reflection and calm. I am certain many FIDI members will stay on after the conference to explore more of the fascinating country – it is almost impossible to be there and not feel tempted to turn the trip into something more.

During the Osaka Conference, the FIDI 39 Club Board will hold its annual meeting with the FIDI Board. The occasion holds a special place in our hearts, not only because it is part of the formal business of the associations, but because of what it represents.

This meeting symbolises the strong connection between generations within FIDI, the genuine attention given to younger professionals, and the shared belief that the future of our industry depends on investing in people early and intentionally. It is a moment of dialogue and alignment, when ideas are exchanged, perspectives meet and long-term vision is reinforced. It is a reminder that the FIDI 39 Club is not a parallel initiative, but an integral part of FIDI’s continued strength and evolution.

We will also take this opportunity to evaluate the results of the past year – what we have achieved, what we have learned and how the club has grown. Equally importantly, we will focus on what comes next: shaping future activities, defining our focus topic and further developing our virtual events. These online initiatives allow our global community to remain connected and engaged, and to continue learning together well beyond the confines of physical conferences.

This year’s FIDI 39 Club Conference programme has been designed to reflect the realities our industry faces today. It will focus on cyber security and artificial intelligence (AI), two topics that are no longer optional conversations or mere technical discussions. They are central to how we operate, protect sensitive client data, manage risk and build trust in an increasingly digital world.

Over two days, participants will take part in keynote and interactive sessions led by specialists. There will be discussions grounded in real operational challenges faced by moving companies globally, giving delegates practical insights to take back to their teams.

The FIDI 39 Club experience in Osaka will also include a series of shared cultural and social activities designed to strengthen relationships and encourage meaningful connections. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a sumotori experience, offering insight into the history, discipline and values of sumo wrestling. It is an encounter that reflects many of the principles we value in leadership: respect, consistency, humility and strength built over time.

There will also be an informal sushi-making dinner, guided by professional chefs, where members can connect in a relaxed environment. These moments – unstructured, human and authentic – are often where the most valuable conversations happen.

The programme will conclude with a party, hosted by the FIDI 39 Club, at one of Osaka’s most vibrant nightlife venues, with a private terrace, music, live performances and a lively atmosphere. It will be a celebration of community, culture and the relationships that bring our network to life.

FIDI 39 Club members will also take part in a focused networking session, the details of which I will not reveal just yet. What I can share is that it has been designed from the insights and requests our members have shared over the years, and will be the ideal amuse-bouche to the FIDI Conference.

My FIDI 39 Club Board colleague José Luis Tabuenca provides a more detailed overview of the full FIDI 39 Club programme, activities and experiences on the following pages, to give readers a closer look at what awaits them in Osaka.

If you have ever considered attending a FIDI 39 Club Conference and waited for ‘the right one’, this is it. Japan has a unique way of opening minds and the FIDI community has a unique way of opening doors. This will be a shared experience that will stay with you long after you return home.

I can’t wait to see you in Osaka.
