DP World launches war risk cargo cover

13th May 2026

DP World has launched cargo war risk insurance for businesses operating in the Middle East.

The programme, which the company says is the first of its kind, is offering continuous coverage through the supply chain, including ocean and air transit, port storage, and deliveries on land. The company said the product plus insurance policies, which often only cover a single leg of a shipment’s journey and can exclude war-related risks altogether.

According to DP World, the policy covers physical loss or damage caused by conflict, civil unrest, seizure, and derelict weapons, with no deductible on valid claims. Coverage options include end-to-end protection, standalone ocean, air, or land transit policies, and automatic port storage cover for up to 14 days.

The programme is available to businesses trading in or through the Middle East, including routes across the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. DP World said the initiative reflects its growing role as an integrated end-to-end supply chain partner.
