Transport and logistics sector predicts supply chain upheaval

27th October 2026

Ongoing geopolitical disruption means that more than two-thirds (69 per cent) of transport and logistics businesses expect to change suppliers or supply chains, according to a new global report from insurance provider Beazley.

Spotlight on geopolitical and economic uncertainty 2026 is based on a survey of 3,500 business leaders around the world and highlights current concerns, including market volatility, workforce pressures, cybersecurity and increasing regulation.

Economic slowdown, inflation, recession and sovereign debt were cited by 42 per cent of respondents as among the biggest risks, up from 32 per cent in January 2026.

Workforce-related risks – notably recruitment and retention, employment costs and mental health – were mentioned by 88 per cent, compared with 79 per cent in January. Cybersecurity was among the top three risks for 39 per cent of those surveyed, up from 36 per cent.

Four in five (80 per cent) said global regulations were an issue for their businesses. Accordingly, companies are focusing more on resilience and flexibility rather than efficiency alone, says the report.

Of the businesses surveyed, 27 per cent are planning to invest in technology and AI, while 22 per cent intend to increase investment in insurance and risk-management services.
