Nationals of 12 countries – Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen – have been banned from travelling to the US following a proclamation by President Donald Trump.
The proclamation follows the executive order issued by President Trump on January 20 this year: Protecting the United States from foreign terrorists and other national security and public safety threats.
It also subjects those from a further seven countries – Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela – to a partial ban on travelling to the US.
The White House cited reasons including high visa overstay rates and political instability for including countries on the list.
