IN D U ST RY N EW S Vinelli & Scotto sold to FERCAM FERCAM has agreed the purchase of FIDI Affiliate Vinelli & Scotto (V&S), based in Venaria, Italy, with a branch in Concorezzo specialised in international removals and relocation. The South Tyrol-based logistics company said the move is designed to strengthen its position in the international moving sector, where it has operated for many years with its brand Gondrand by FERCAM. V&S has won several global awards for its operations, serving clients including multinationals, banks and insurance companies, as well as universities and international and research organisations. The company is owned by Renata and Laura Busettini, CEO and General Manager of the business respectively. They have managed the family business for around 30 years, having taken over from their father, Ottavio, in the 1990s. CD&R partner Russ Fradin, who will become board chairman of the new independent company, said it would be looking to take advantage of growth in global employee mobility as economies and businesses recover from the effects of the pandemic. The return of business travel, emerging mobile work patterns, and the heightened need for compliance in a complex business and regulatory environment will drive signicant need for a globally integrated provider with a sophisticated digital platform, he said. Clarke added: The pandemic proved that global employment issues remain a key challenge for companies, especially as compliance requirements become more complex. BELGIAN MOVERS EXPECT PRICE HIKE The Belgian moving industry says it expects signicant price increases in 2022 because of the rise in costs of materials, fuel and transport. According to a statement by Bertil Durieux, Chairman of the Belgian Association of Removers, companies in the transport sector are warning customers of price rises of 8 per cent, while logistics business are expecting an increase of 9 per cent. He said costs of materials, including moving boxes, tape, bubble wrap as well as tyres, fuel and means of transport (such as trucks), have increased by 10 to 30 per cent. A tighter labour market and sta shortages were also adding to structural increases in costs. Durieux said new rates would be applied from 1 January 2022.
