O B IFTUARI E ATU RE ES ROBERT BOLLIGER R obert Bolliger has died at his home in Lugano at the age of 68, after a long illness. He was head of Bolliger SPA for many years, and the long-serving first President of Italian moving association AITI (FIDI Italy). He helped establish the company as one of Italys foremost moving businesses, with offices in Milan and Rome, Connecticut and London. The companys Sales and Marketing Manager, Giovanni Moscarello, said in a statement: Robert will forever live in our souls and in our memories as a gentleman and great man who believed in our potential. He created our great company and has grown our brand and reputation in the world. Hence, Bolliger and I will honour his legacy and his principles in business and in friendship. He dedicated his life to the industry, and he loved all the people who were part of it. Max Ajroldi, Managing Director of Franzosini International Movers and current FIDI Italy President, said: Robert had a luminary role in our international removal industry in Italy and was very well known all over the world. He was President of FIDI Italy for many years and I assumed leadership only when he started reducing his presence. I am grateful to have experienced the opportunity of working together in our association. He had an aristocratic intellect in solving demanding problems in our moving business. Today, I have lost a colleague, a friend and a real noble gentleman, and Robert Bolliger will never forget his valued guidance. Writing in his blog, Mark Oakeshott, of Mark Oakeshott Consulting, said: Robert was the strongest possible advocate of quality and professionalism in the industry and the first President of the Italian national association an association he helped found. Well-read and a true gentleman, a meeting with Robert was an education on anything from moving to the Roman empire. Be sure that if anyone should ever write a book on the history of international moving, the name of Robert Bolliger will stand alongside the other great leaders of this industry.
