L I G H T E R S I DE PAXTON TEAM IN HISTORICAL MOVE Paxton International recently completed a delicate assignment with historical impact and had the opportunity to help preserve a piece of history along the way. The company was commissioned in September 2019 by a client whose focus is on the collection and preservation of significant historical artifacts, to manage exclusively the collection, transportation and safe delivery of the personal papers, manuscripts and Paxton International staff put the transportation plan into action regalia of Ann Cottrell Free. Free was an award-winning, pioneering female journalist and author who wrote on such topics as civil rights and the plight of animals in the US. She was one of the first reporters to address pollution of the environment. Free was ahead of her time, achieving many firsts, including being the first full-time female Washington correspondent for Newsweek magazine, the Chicago Sun and the New York Herald Tribune. Paxton surveyed the contents and developed a detailed transportation plan to collect and deliver safely the historical documents, which filled an entire residential basement. The Paxton team successfully completed this assignment in a single day. ASIAN TIGERS TAKE ON CHARITY CHALLENGES Bill Lloyd, managing director of Asian Tigers Indonesia, joined seven other hikers, including his 15-year-old son Blake, for a charity hike up Indonesias second-highest volcano Mount Rinjani, on the island of Lombok. The Fiona Unity Foundation overnight hike took place in aid of Lomboks forgotten children, many of whom lost their families in a 6.9-magnitude earthquake on 5 August, 2018. The hike took the group through clouds, before they set up camp at 2,641m above sea level in an unusually cold Indonesian environment. The hike was incredibly challenging both going up and 86 FF294 DecJan20 pp84-88 Lighter Side.indd 86 coming down, said Lloyd. Meanwhile, Asian Tigers Mobility Indonesia hosted its 5th Annual 45-hole golf event challenging participants to finish all 45 holes of the mighty Jagorawi Golf and Country Club in one day, without the use of a golf cart. Asian Tigers hosts the event to raise money and awareness for The Animal Sanctuary Trust Indonesia, a non-profit organisation, which focuses on protection and rehabilitation of endangered Sumatran tigers. The low gross winner was Mark Souders and the low net winner Chad Hinzman. ARPIN GROUP MAKES WEIGHTY FOOD BANK DONATION FIDI Affiliate Arpin Group has collected more than 600kg of non-perishable food items and donated them to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Arpins sustainability committee drove the initiative, which it wanted to benefit its community and promote awareness for Hunger Action Month. It partnered with Move for Hunger, the not-for-profit organisation that works with relocation companies to help them collect food donations for delivery to local food banks. Its Back to School food drive collection included boxed foods, canned goods, and an assortment of beverages and miscellaneous items, which filled 12 extra-large Arpin moving boxes. Ben Steele, of the Arpin sustainability committee, said: We have been maintaining a garden and donating the produce for years, but wanted to do a larger-scale charitable event. I would have been impressed if we had collected two or three boxes of food, so I was shocked when we ended up with 12. Peter Arpin, executive VP of Arpin Group and president of Arpin renewable energy, added: The sustainability committee and all Arpin employees who participated put in such an effort to make an impact on our community. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank has been the major food bank in Rhode Island since its inception in 1982.
