F E ATU RE TREATING EVERY MOVE LIKE THEIR OWN After 16 years in the moving industry, Japan-based J-Logicom says it has built its business on delivering a personalised service for each of its customers. Here, General Manager Ai Matsuba explains how FIDI membership will help it build its network and fulfil ambitions for growth FF: Please tell us about J-logicom. Ai Matsuba (AM): J-Logicoms parent company was founded 41 years ago. The international moving division was established 16 years ago. We have approximately 120 employees. AI MATSUBA, GENERAL MANAGER OF J-LOGICOM FF: What are the characteristics of your local market? AM: Aichi Prefecture [where J-Logicom is based] is a region where trade is thriving. It is home to the headquarters and facilities of one of the worlds leading manufacturers. FF: How has your countrys moving industry evolved over the past 10 years? AM: There are an increasing number of Japanese expats, with more professionals and skilled workers working overseas. We have seen demand for moving increase with this trend. FF: What are your biggest opportunities for growth? FF: How would you describe your companys business ethos? AM: J-Logicom carries out its business with a focus on empathy and working with integrity. Our slogan is We treat every move like it is our own. Every family as our own. We give a personalised service to everyone we move. FF: What are your main strengths as an organisation? AM: Our moving staff and management team are very close. This helps to improve and personalise our moving services, in spite of times and situations changing. FF: Why did you decide to join FIDI? AM: FIDI Affiliates and friends in the moving industry recommended we join FIDI. FIDI membership allows us to maintain the highest quality services and gives us the opportunity of networking with other FIDI Affiliates. Every business has different culture, systems and methods; it is very interesting to share experiences and to form partnerships with colleagues in this industry. We get great advice, hear moving experiences and lessons that give us the motivation to keep working with integrity. FF: How did you find the FAIM process? AM: It was tough at the beginning because we were already working to another system. However, we worked through the process; our structure now fits and were now well organised according to the FAIM Standard. FF: Are you looking forward to playing an active role in the FIDI community? AM: Yes, we are! At the end of this year, one of our staff will go to Prague for the FIDI Academy EiM seminar, which will be a great opportunity to learn from experienced trainers and spend time with other movers. For us, investing the time of high-potential employees is necessary for growth as a new Affiliate. FF: What are the future challenges for your business? AM: Challenges will be gaining contracts with new regions that weve never handled before and introducing new technology to speed up the administrative work.
