FIDI CO N F E RE N C E OSAKA 2020: THE PERFECT PLACE TO FIND YOUR IKIGAI The FIDI Conference teams preparations are already well advanced for next years annual event on 26-29 April. To be held in Osaka, Japan, the city is the perfect setting for delegates to reflect upon the direction of their businesses, the industry and life in general, says Magali Horbert, FIDI Marketing and Communications Manager T he 2020 FIDI Conference will take us to a city with a faraway and exotic sound to it: Osaka. In line with traditional Japanese wisdom and outlook on life, this years Conference will take on the theme of ikigai meaning reason for being in the broadest possible sense. Finding and maintaining our ikigai is not an easy task and requires stepping back from the daily grind time and again to evaluate and realign priorities. The concept of ikigai can also be applied to the business world: a company constantly has to uphold the fragile and ever-shifting balance between maintaining its identity and the need to grow, all the while adapting to a world that seems to be changing at an increasing speed. The moving and relocation industry is no exception: we have seen many fundamental changes over the past years in our sector. Individual companies might find it difficult to keep up with the fast-changing demands of the customers and the shift in how business is run and FIDI has to constantly re-evaluate and redefine its own purpose, to be able to serve the interest of its Affiliates. The annual Conference is the highlight of our FIDI community. Its the moment we come together to take stock of where we stand as an organisation representing our Affiliates, and as an industry as a whole. It is the perfect occasion to take a step back and look hard and deep into what our purpose our ikigai should be. And what better setting for this exercise than fascinating Osaka?
