F ID I C O N FE RENCE ASSOCIATIONS MEET IN AMSTERDAM Participation in the FIDI Associations is a great way for Affiliates to stay abreast of changes and to improve business. FIDI Focus reports on some of the association meetings that took place Pictured above: Teodoru Cristea, Steve Lewis, Lydia Cope and Ido Barner at the ADA Europe meeting S everal FIDI Associations held meetings during the FIDI Conference in Amsterdam, with the support of Lydia Cope from the FIDI Office, and Piet van Herk, FIDIs outgoing Treasurer. The meetings were set up to assist new Associations, and those with low participation, to engage with their local members. The President or representative in each meeting gave a detailed overview of the Delegates Meeting and the items for voting at the General Assembly, while Van Herk supplied information on FIDIs financial position, elaborated on items from the Delegates Meeting and further explained the new FASI operating rules. Each FIDI Association meeting follows the same format in updating members on membership changes, Association housekeeping matters, Board elections and future conferences. ADA EUROPE MEETING: AN OVERVIEW On the afternoon of 1 April, ADA Europe met for its annual meeting. President Ido Barner welcomed attendees and encouraged them to continue to give feedback throughout the year, which he, as Delegate, would pass onto the FIDI Board at the Delegates Meeting. This is your channel to bring items to the attention of the Board and the other Associations, said Barner. As is recommended for all FIDI Association meetings, the compliance statement was read out. Barner welcomed two new Affiliates from the past year: SBK Moving, Stockholm, Sweden and M&TM Freight, Moscow, Russia. The Association lost its members from Ireland in October 2018, as they set up their own local Association, FIDI Ireland. In terms of annual activities, ADA Europe encompasses several countries whose members were active in updating custom guides throughout the year. ADA Europe members decided that they will start to build reserves for a conference in an ADA Europe member country in future and will start saving from 2020. The last conference was in Cairo in 2005, so members felt it was time for ADA Europe to have the chance to host a conference again. 48 FF291JunJul19 pp48-49 Association Presidents.indd 48 The main benefit to Affiliates attending these meetings is the opportunity to talk about the latest developments and trends among peers, and to ask questions and voice suggestions and concerns to theirAssociation boards, which will raise those items inthe Delegates Meeting or with the FIDI Board. Many items debated during the Delegates Meeting will eventually be added to the General Assembly itemsfor voting and, if approved, will be adopted by the FIDI community. l Thanks to FIDI Association participation, FIDI remains at the forefront of the latest developments and acts as a strong forum for the future of the household goods moving sector. UPDATES FROM FIDI INDIA FIDI India President Payal Singh welcomed attendees, and mentioned new members Agarwal Packers and Movers, and IGL Relocation, both of which joined in 2018. During the meeting, members debated the future of the association and how they could be better engaged. As a result of these discussions FIDI India elected a new Board, which is looking at revising the association rules and setting up meetings locally as well as at the next conferences, due to excellent participation and discussion during this meeting. FIDI India set up a new Board and discussed how to hold both local and conference meetings in future. The new Association Boards first mission is to update its now outdated rules and regulations. The next meeting is scheduled to take place during the FIDI Conference in Osaka in April 2020. WWW.
