F ID I C O N FE R ENCE FASI Van Sas presented highlights on FASI in the last 12 months. There was one large payout in 2018 which affected the fund but, despite the large payout, the FASI fund remains healthy at 2m. In order to maintain the healthy fund and to ensure that it is used correctly going forward, new FASI operating rules were voted in during this meeting. In summary, there are now a number of newly introduced exclusions that limit payouts to only cover the scope of an international move. In addition, the total amount eligible to be paid out each year has been revised to ensure longevity of the fund. Those Affiliates repeatedly reported for non-payment of invoices, will also face sanctions. Affiliates are invited to study the new rules on FIDINET. ANNUAL CONFERENCES Board member and incoming FIDI President Ebru Demirel thanked FIDI Asia for inviting the Conference to its region in 2020. The FIDI Conference will be held from 26-29 April in Osaka, Japan, which will also mark the 70th anniversary of FIDI. The following year, the FIDI Conference will be held in Cannes, France, and preparations are beginning for NewZealand in 2022. Future Conferences are under discussion, and will be voted on at the General Assembly in Japan next year. SUPPORT SERVICES the process by the end of 2019. Once the pilot is completed after two years, the results will be presented to the Delegates for approval. RMCS FIDI Office senior management, together with the Board, met several relocation management companies (RMCs) ahead of the conference. The purpose was for RMCs to gain a deeper understanding of what FIDI does and the benefits of using FAIM accredited movers. The FIDI office took away a lot of positive feedback and suggestions and the intention is to continue this dialogue. FIDI ACADEMY The FIDI website is experiencing strong growth across all metrics, with the unique user count for January at 17,500 The FIDI Academy remains popular for e-learning and webinars, but seminar attendance is declining. To keep seminars viable and valuable to Affiliates, they will be opened to government agencies and corporate accounts. For Affiliates, there will be a new Destination Service Provider (DSP) Seminar launching in November 2019, aimed at DSP coordinators. Webinars are popular in terms of technical skills, move management and soft skills, such as team management and communication, while GDPR training proved the most popular module in 2018. Van Sas reminded Delegates of the mandatory compliance training module for CEOs, with, so far, only 60 per cent having completed the training. A final reminder will be sent to those not compliant and non completion could lead to membership sanctions. 28 FF291JunJul19 pp26-31 Delegates Meeting and General Assembly.indd 28 Van Sas thanked Affiliates for reporting FIDI branding misuse cases, which have risen to 44 since the last meeting, partly because of increased vigilance on behalf of the Associations. He confirmed that there were 86 customer complaints and 101 disputes. Thanks partly to the success of the mediation service offered by the FIDI office, there were no arbitration cases in 2018. The FIDI Customs Guides have been updated, with the input of FIDI Associations, and cover 112 countries. The Professional Cooperation Guidelines (PCGs) are now in their second year and will undergo a review in 2019. The PCG Project team welcomes proposals and suggestions based on situations Affiliates may have faced or new industry trends in their region. The Dispute Resolution Scheme has now come into force, and the Board has validated a list of candidates for the Mediation Panel. 39 CLUB The FIDI 39 Club has been invited by the Board to publish a white paper, for which it has chosen to focus on gender equality.
